The Wonder of it All
(a Christmas poem)
The wonder of it all
that God would
pick a frightened
adolescent who
dared listen to
an angel’s voice
The wonder of it all
that a bewildered
carpenter would
take a chance
and believe in a dream
of impossible things
The wonder of it all
that outcasts
smelling of sheep
would be his first
and finest subjects
to kneel before him
The wonder of it all
that star seekers
would leave the certainty
of maps and risk
some vision quest to
discover a manger child
The wonder of it all
is that now we
can again hear angel
songs if we will but
listen with our hearts to
the wonder of it all
